Penn Electric Racing
I led the Electrical Team at Penn that designed a Formula SAE racecar every year from 2015-2019. The vehicles we built broke the North American acceleration record (0-75m in 3.89s or 0-60mph in 2.6s), won 1st place at both Formula North and Formula Lincoln, and became the first competitive 4-wheel-drive vehicle in America.
My work focused on the vehicle's electronic control units, which included more than 15 custom boards every year, amounting to over 45 schematics in aggregate. A typical board featured ~200 parts routed across 4 layers.
I also worked on:
- Recruitment
- Rookie education
- Sales pitches
- Unveiling
- Fun time lapses
- All media photo, film, & design
- Sponsorship packages worth over $35k
- Garbage disposal
The racecars were built with some of the brightest friends I've ever made. Find out more here: Official Penn Electric Racing Website
